Julian Young The Director
A native of Florence, Young works at Francis Marion University. The immediate past-president of the Alumni Association, he continues to serve as advisor to the organization. He also serves as a community representative on the Carolina's Hospital Hospice Advisory Board, a member of the Board of Directors of the Pee Dee Federal Credit Union, and will serve as the chairman for the Keep Florence Beautiful Committee for 2007-08.
After moving back to South Carolina, Julian was chosen to participate in the Palmetto Leadership Class of 1998 in Marion. Listed in the Manchester Who's Who Registry of Executives and Professionals for 2006, Julian was selected as the FMU Alumni Volunteer of the Year in 2006, as well. He is listed in the Who's Who in Business registry and recognized in the journal of Outstanding Young Men of America.
Married to Rebecca, they have a 14 year old son, Russell, and live in Florence.
Mark S. Railey The Accompanist and Assistant Director
Mark S. Railey, an ordained minister, has served in various churches as a pianist/organist or choir director for 25 years. He is a composer and arranger and is comfortable performing all styles of music. Currently, he is filling the organ bench at All Saints Church pending their hiring of a new music director. He works as a professional educator in the Darlington County School District.
Mark’s educational background includes a bachelor of arts in biblical studies/languages and biology, a master of divinity and two honorary doctorates. He is finishing a doctor of ministry degree from the Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif. He is the husband of Kathryn and the father of Joshua, Caleb, and Nathan.
In 2009, Mark will be taking the baton of the Florence Boy Choir. This will be the culmination of one of his life long dreams. The accompanist will be Ann Rodgers Chandler, the music director of First Presbyterian Church in Florence and a member of the Florence Men’s Choral Society Board of Directors.
