Rehearsal Times and Locations:

Florence Men’s Choral Society rehearses on Thursdays from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church in Florence.

The Palmetto State Boys Choir rehearses on Saturdays from 1:00 until 3:00 pm at All Saints Episcopal Church in Florence

The Palmetto State Boys Choir Touring Choir rehearses on Thursdays from 5:00 until 6:45 at All Saints Episcopal Church in Florence.

To audition for the Florence Men’s Choral Society

1. Arrive at First Presbyterian Church at 6:00 on the day scheduled for auditions.  For example, January 14, 2010.

2. Sing with a group.

3. Sing for Mr. Julian Young.  He is listening for your tone, your ability to sing on pitch, with and without vibrato, and your level of reading music.

4. Mr. Young will want to know if you enjoy singing and will you attend the rehearsals and concerts faithfully.

To audition for the Palmetto State Boys Choir:

Arrive at All Saints Episcopal Church on Saturday, January 23rd at 1:00.  This is a regular rehearsal of the Palmetto State Boys Choir.  You will join the choir at 1:00 to warm-up and listen/watch while the boys rehearse.  After about an hour, you will sing for Mr. Railey.  He normally asks boys to sing a song like “Happy Birthday” or “Jingle Bells.”

Here are some questions:

1. Are you between 7 and 18 years old?

2. Do you enjoy performing?
    Do you love to sing around the house?

3. Can you match pitch? 

4. What is your range?

5. Will you commit to faithfully attending rehearsals and concerts?  Will you make the choir a priority?

6. Will you work hard to learn the music and to improve your music ability through our music education programs?
