JANUARY
NEWS: Florence Men’s Choral Society continues to grow! Welcome to newest members Jamie Grimsley, Tim Jordan, Robert Moody, and Jack Ray. These men were admitted to the Society after the audition on January 17. We also would like to welcome Jim Fincher and Dale Carrier who were admitted to the Society after the first audition on January 14.
NEWS: Director Julian Young and Associate Director/Accompanist Mark Railey will be singing with MasterSingers USA in Washington DC at the Intercollegiate Men’s National Seminar, March 27-29. To read more about this seminar visit their website at www.imci.us.

NEWS: New Assistant Accompanist Named! The Florence Men’s Choral Society is pleased to announce the new Assistant Accompanist will be Ms. Betsy T. Johnson. She is the Choir Director at Darlington First Presbyterian Church. Betsey will be at the piano bench for most of January while Mark Railey is away directing the Music for the Florence Little Theater Production of Pump Boys and Dinettes.
NEWS: The Florence Men’s Choral Society will receive a 2008 grant from the Florence Arts Alliance!
NEWS: Positive relations with leading community music organizations is a goal of FMCS. For this reason, the choir seeks not to conflict with other scheduled concerts, shows, and auditions. One example of this is the scheduling of our Spring Concert to May 8 so as not to conflict with Florence Little Theater’s production of Oklahoma (April 25-May 3) or the Masterwork’s Choir Spring concert on April 13.
Good favor within the community may be found in small expressions. For example, Bill Mills, Director of Music at Central United Methodist Church invited Director Julian Young to sing special music on “any given 9:00 AM Sunday morning service!” Bill Mills is the director of Masterwork Choir, a leading community choir in the Florence area.
